SAVOY

Despite the British weather’s best efforts, the Diamond Jubilee was most definitely a weekend to remember. 1000 boats sailed past the hotel and The Savoy held its very first Street Party which was hailed as one of the most sparkling Jubilee parties. And while the rain looks like it may be here to stay for a while, we’re not letting it dampen a wonderful Summer at The Savoy.

Over 18 months after The Savoy reopened, we continue to win awards. Most recently The Savoy was named as the Best Hotel in the UK in the prestigious Ultratravel Awards while our bartenders go from success to success. American Bar bartender, Nathan Merriman, won the UKBG Young Bartender of the Year. While Head Bartender, Erik Lorincz has been shortlisted in the Daily Telegraph as 1 of the 15 people who “represent Britain’s most exciting talent”. You can vote for Erik by clicking here.

Music continues to ring through The Savoy this season with a glamorous Dinner Dance in the Thames Foyer on Saturday 23rd June. Tickets are priced at £65pp and include a welcome cocktail, 3 course dinner and entertainment from the divine Miss Holly Penfield and her trio. Also back by popular demand, another Evening of Cabaret & Burlesque will be burning up the Beaufort Bar on Sunday 1st July with guest performers including Ginger Blush, Banbury Cross and Piff The Magic Dragon. Artistic
To commemorate the amazing sight of a 1000-strong flotilla sailing past the hotel, The Savoy has commissioned a major artwork from artist David Downes. David spent the afternoon of 3rd June sketching this amazing scene from the roof of the hotel. He can now be found (a little warmer and a little drier) working on the canvas in the Thames Foyer as our artist-in-residence. The completed work will hang in the Front Hall from late August and a limited edition of prints of his work will be available from Savoy Tea. The Savoy will be taking part in Taste of London showcasing both the River Restaurant and the Beaufort Bar. From 21 – 24 June, the festival is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some of James Pare’s signature dishes and Chris Moore’s innovative cocktails, including the Taste of Savoy cocktail especially created for the event.
